WORLD TOURISM DAY

2018 : in TOLIARY

Conference debate, carnival, visits to tourist sites, traditional wrestling … These are, among others, the activities that will mark for 3 days, from 19 to 21 October 2018, the festivities of World Tourism Day, which will take place in Tulear.

The WTD is celebrated every year around the world on September 27. For this year, the Ministry of Tourism has therefore chosen the City of the Sun to host the event under the theme of innovation and digital transformation.

In Madagascar, tourism is an essential vector in the economic development of the country. This theme chosen by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) is topical as changes in customer expectations and global trends are forcing the tourism sector to turn more and more to digital technology in order to improve customer satisfaction and operational performance.

On the program of the celebration: conferences on the themes “the stakes and problems of the tourism sector in the Atsimo Andrefana Region” and “tourism and digital transformation”; visit to the Reniala Park, exhibitions in the Sea Garden; carnival; sprouting race, presentation of badges to certified tourist guides and Ringa competition (traditional wrestling); half-marathon around the city; podium animation…
