Starting from Antananarivo you go down through the forested region around Andasibe often referred to as Perinet where you can discover the rainforest with its vocal Indri Indri; a diversity of frogs, including the tomato frog and chameleons which can be seen along the forest paths. You then get to the lake at Manambato where you will be transferred to a motor boat that will take you the rest of distance to the “Nest of Dreams” most often referred to as “Akanin’ny Nofy”.
If you pay a visit to this reserve, you will certainly spot a good variety of Lemurs and other fauna & flora before travelling up the waterways and lakes to Toamasina. Further north, another increasingly popular destination is the “Ile Sainte Marie”, an offshore island whose palm-fringed beaches are beginning to outshine those of the better –known Nosy Be as a paradise for sun-worshippers. The tour finishes here so you will fly back from St Marie to Antananarivo.
Itinerary
Day 1 : ANTANANARIVO
You will be met on arrival at the Airport and transferred to your city hotel. Check in and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: ANTANANARIVO - ANDASIBE
After breakfast, we start drive eastward through the highlands to Andasibe. We will stop over at Reptiles Park. Visit Mandraka Park, here you can see some of endemic chameleons, snakes, insects and reptiles of Madagascar. After the visit here we will continue to follow the road to Andasibe. In the evening, before dinner, enjoy a night walk looking for the many nocturnal creatures. Night and dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: ANDASIBE
After early breakfast, visit of rainforest of Analamazaotra at Perinet: the forest with 810hectares gives home to 09 species of lemurs among which the spectacular Indri Indri and hear their haunting “singing call”. A part from lemurs, the forest is also a good place to see birds, chameleons, orchids. Mild hiking provides a good opportunity to experience the abundant flora and fauna of the eastern rain forest.
Return back to Hotel and have lunch at the Restaurant.
In the afternoon we will drive to “Vakona reserve” visit Lemur Island situated near Vakona Lodge. This is very special reserve where you can play and touch Lemurs and close up photography is guaranteed.
Diner and night at the hotel.
Day 4: ANDASIBE - MANAMBATO - AKANY NOFY
After breakfast, we will drive to Manambato a village in the edge of Lake Rasoabe; on the Pangalane Channel where you will embark by boat.
Have lunch at Acacia Restaurant
After an hour, you enter Lake Ampitabe, the third largest lake of the Canal des Pangalanes.
Night and dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: AKANY NOFY
Optional excursion either on foot or by boat ; such as the private reserve of Palmarium –an escorted visit of several species of lemur and also stunning flora , the typical Betsimisaraka’s Village .
Night and dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: AKANY NOFY - TOAMASINA
After Toamasina, extend our tour to Foulpointe, it is a sea resort , very resort by local and foreign visitors .There are sharks offshore, visit the Fortress or you can take the canoe trips to admire the beach in the afternoon. Night and dinner at the hotel.
Day 7: TOAMASINA - FOULPOINTE
After Toamasina, extend our tour to Foulpointe, it is a sea resort , very resort by local and foreign visitors .There are sharks offshore, visit the Fortress or you can take the canoe trips to admire the beach in the afternoon. Night and dinner at the hotel.
Day 8: FOULPOINTE - SOANIERANA IVONGO - SAINTE MARIE
After breakfast straight northern to reach Soanierana Ivongo where we will take the boat to St Marie.
Upon arrival at Sainte Marie, you will be met by our team and transferred by road to your hotel. After check in the day is free to explore the surrounding or swim in the crystal clear water of the Sainte Marie Channel.
Night and dinner at the hotel.
Day 9: SAINTE MARIE
Visit of the island. Sainte-Marie is a really nature’s sanctuary, with his primitive forest, his many floral species, his waterfall, his marvelous submarine background, and his humpback whales from June to September.
There, we can find the first and most old church in Madagascar (1859), and we can also find there a natural swimming pool, a reef coral barrier constituting a beautiful natural aquarium. In the south of this island, there are “les îlots aux sables” meaning the small island in sand, constituted by groups of 3 corallines small islands.
And the “îlots aux nattes” means small islands in plait, the pearl of Sainte-Marie, with his point, his bay, and his lagoon with emerald water coloring. Lunch Night and dinner at the hotel.
Day 10: SAINTE MARIE
Day free in full board at the hotel.
Day 11: SAINTE MARIE - ANTANANARIVO
Transfer at the airport, fly back to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, transfer to your city hotel or onward arrangements.
Dinner and overnight at Hotel.
Day 12: ANTANANARIVO - TO YOUR HOMELAND
Transfer to Airport then fly back to your country
